Batam
Part of our Pivot Doors collection →
Four interlocking blocks of horizontal slats and vertical staves in a warm walnut stain, finished with a full-height stainless pull — the Batam is a 3″-thick solid mahogany pivot door built for a travertine-and-glass modern entry.
The Batam is a single pivot door in solid mahogany whose face is composed as four interlocking blocks: bands of slim horizontal slats set against fields of wide vertical staves, stepping across the slab so the grain changes direction from block to block and the door reads as a piece of woven joinery rather than a flat panel. A full-height brushed stainless bar pull runs down the lock edge; there is no glass in the leaf and no visible hardware. Shown in a warm walnut stain between two full-height glass sidelites, set into a portal clad in grey-veined travertine under a deep bronze canopy, with brass sconces on either side, on a tropical-modern Miami house.
Built 3″ thick with a staved mahogany core and mortise-and-tenon joinery, it hangs on a concealed floor-and-head pivot and can be specified with Florida Product Approval FL28370 for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (±65 PSF, TAS 201/202/203) up to 81″ × 147¾″. The sidelites are built as part of the same tested assembly with laminated impact glass. Hand-finished in our own factory in any of our standard stains or a custom color.
