St. Moritz
A full-glass pivot door in a mahogany frame with a single horizontal rail — the St. Moritz is the entrance for a house that wants to be seen through.
The St. Moritz is essentially a glass door held in a mahogany frame: one tall clear lite above a narrower one, separated by a single horizontal rail, with wide stiles and top and bottom rails in solid wood. From the street the entry reads as transparent; up close the warm frame and the long black bar pull give it the substance of a real front door.
In the project pictured it is finished in a light natural stain and set inside a full-height glass wall, with black-framed clerestory glass above and dark stone floors below — the wood frame is the only warm note, and it is exactly enough. The design also suits darker stains where the frame becomes a graphic outline.
Built on pivot hardware with laminated impact glass, the St. Moritz can be made up to 144″ tall and 81″ wide under Florida Product Approval FL28370, hurricane-rated for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone with two 5-point lock sets. The rail position and glass finish are specified per project. The slab is built 3″ thick in solid mahogany.
