Why Custom Doors

Not a door you choose from a catalog.
A door we build around your home.

Large-missile tested

A 9-lb 2×4 at 50 ft/s, then 9,000 pressure cycles. Door, frame, glass and hardware pass together as one assembly.

Solid mahogany, not a veneer

2¼″ to 4″ thick with a staved engineered core, built for coastal humidity, sun and salt air.

Two approvals, every style

FL16326 for hinged outswing doors, FL28370 for pivots to 81″ × 147¾″ — classical, modern, French, arched and church.

Built by us

Designed, engineered, manufactured and finished by one company, in our own factory — not sourced from a catalog.

Why wood

A wood door that survives a hurricane is not a contradiction.

Most “impact doors” in South Florida are fiberglass slabs or aluminum frames. Ours are 2¼″ to 4″ solid mahogany — mortise-and-tenon joinery, staved cores, laminated impact glass — tested to the same TAS 201/202/203 protocol as every other door in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone. The difference is what you get to live with for the next thirty years.

  • Large-missile tested

A 9-lb 2×4 fired at 50 ft/s, then 9,000 pressure cycles. The door, the glass, the frame and the hardware pass together as one assembly.

  • Two approvals, every style

Hinged outswing doors under FL16326 — classical, modern, French, arched, church. Pivot doors under FL28370 up to 81″ × 147¾″.

  • Laminated impact glass

Divided lites, full glass, iron grills over glass — all glazed with laminated impact glass so light comes in and debris stays out.

  • Permit-ready paperwork

Florida Product Approval, engineer-sealed drawings, installation instructions and certificates for your contractor and building department.

Why our hurricane doors

Engineered for the HVHZ. Finished by hand.

Six things every hurricane wood door from our factory carries — and most impact doors don’t.

Florida Product Approved

FL16326 (hinged outswing) and FL28370 (pivot) — tested to TAS 201, 202 and 203 and sealed by a licensed Florida Professional Engineer.

Solid mahogany, not a veneer

Naturally rot-resistant and dimensionally stable in coastal humidity. The face you touch is real wood, with a staved engineered core.

Multipoint locking

Five solid-brass 4½″ hinges and a multipoint lock that engages the frame along the full height of the leaf. ASTM F588 forced-entry rated.

Sized to your opening

Singles to 50½″ × 122½″, pairs to 74½″ wide, sidelites to 45″ — and pivots to 81″ × 147¾″. Nothing is cut down from a stock slab.

Any style you want

Classical raised panels, iron grills, French divided lites, flush modern faces, full arches, church doors. The rating comes from the construction, not the look.

One team, start to finish

Designed, engineered, built and finished in our own factory by the same people. Shipped nationwide, installed in South Florida.

Finishes

Five standards. Or any color you can name.

FAQ

Common questions.

What makes a wood door “hurricane rated”?

A Florida Product Approval. The complete assembly — door, frame, glass, hinges and lock — is tested to TAS 201 (large missile impact), TAS 202 (structural pressure) and TAS 203 (cyclic pressure) and the results are sealed by a Florida Professional Engineer. Our hinged outswing doors are approved under FL16326 and our pivot doors under FL28370, both at +65 / −65 PSF.

Do I still need shutters with a hurricane wood door?

No. A Florida Product Approved impact door replaces shutters for that opening. Many insurers treat it as Class A opening protection; ask your agent about the wind-mitigation credit.

Can any of your designs be hurricane rated?

Almost all of them. The approval comes from the construction — solid mahogany, staved core, laminated impact glass, multipoint lock — not from the look. Classical, modern, French, arched and church designs are all built under FL16326; oversized flush and modern doors under FL28370 as pivots.

How big can a hurricane wood door be?

Hinged singles to 50½″ × 122½″ and pairs to 74½″ wide, with sidelites up to 45″ and transoms in the same assembly. Pivot doors go to 81″ × 147¾″. If your opening is bigger than the approval, we’ll tell you before we quote.

Do you only manufacture wood doors?

Yes — we exclusively manufacture solid wood doors. We do not produce metal, aluminum, fiberglass or fire-rated doors. Mahogany is the species we work with because it has decades of proven performance in Florida’s climate.

Do you ship outside Florida?

Yes. Doors are crated and shipped nationwide and to the Caribbean. Installation is available in South Florida; elsewhere we supply installation instructions and support your contractor.
