Surabaya
Wide horizontal planks in a warm walnut-tone stain with a full-height black pull, set inside an all-wood portal — the Surabaya makes the whole entry read as one piece of timber.
The Surabaya is built from broad horizontal mahogany planks with fine grooves between them, finished in a warm walnut tone. In the project pictured the same wood wraps the ceiling and side wall of the entry, so the door, soffit and wall read as a single timber volume set into pale limestone — an approach that suits resort-style and tropical-modern homes.
A full-height black bar pull sits on the lock stile; narrow glass sidelites on both sides and a transom above keep the foyer bright. Pendant lights hang in the recess, so the wood glows at night.
Built on pivot hardware, it can be made up to 144″ tall and 81″ wide under Florida Product Approval FL28370, hurricane-rated for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone with two 5-point lock sets. Plank width is chosen so the courses divide the door height evenly, and the stain can be matched to ceiling or cladding samples. The slab is built 3″ thick in solid mahogany.
